We attempted to understand the state of learning spaces in Nigeria, we asked questions, observed patterns in order to understand the problem better.
We noticed that over 90% of student academic lives are spent in learning spaces and the current state of these spaces don’t help to improve students learning experience, engagement and participation
The design aim; “How might we improve the quality of learning experience, engagement and academic performance of students in schools?”
This was the springboard upon which our solutions were created.
After a process of collaborative brainstorming, journeying laterally to think outside the box, we came up with a solution called, “Active Learning Space”.
Active Learning Space is an innovative education solution that helps enhance the learning experience of students, as well as improve their academic performance by facilitating pedagogy, optimizing spaces and integrating technology.
– Furniture is designed to be flexible and moveable in order to support multiple learning styles.

(b). Discussion based learning
(c). Team based learning
(d). Project based learning etc.
– Design of space with good lighting, color, acoustics, finishes, thermal comfort etc.
– Installation of learning aids; inspirational quotes, movable white boards, idea wall etc.
– Integration of digital Audio-visual learning aids e.g. Mobile interactive learning screens.
– Space usage guide for teachers and students.
